The daily trials and tribulations of raising two sons with high special education-needs. Our special needs include: Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Aspergers, RAGE, and multiple Learning Disorders - both verbal and Non-verbal. Oh, and did I mention Mom has Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Raynauds, and a few other 'things' she continues to ignore?

Acronyms
Unless you are a parent navigating the educational system within Ontario, Canada, there are a number of acronyms I use throughout this blog.
I thought it might be nice to share what they mean:
SERT - Special Education Resource Teacher
EA - Educational Assistant
IEP - Individual Education Plan
IPRC - Individual Placement Review Committee
ADHD - Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
RAGE - Repeated Anger Generated Episodes
fMRI - functional magnetic resonance imaging (an MRI that actually follows thought patterns)
GAD - generalized anxiety disorder
CAS - Children's Aide Society
LD - learning disorders
NVLD - non-verbal learning disorders
Dirt Therapy - my term for gardening
SLE - systemic lupus erythematosus (or just Lupus)

About Me
- Jori
- A bit of an oddity - I am happily married, and a mother of two sons that have forced me to learn A LOT about the trials and tribulations of special educational-needs. It has been a long, up-hill battle, yet I wouldn't change them for the world. I work full-time, but my first priority has always been, and always will be, my family. Hubby and I have recently started to work with a nutritionist to ensure our home's eating habits are where they should be. We are learning. I love to garden, and have many year's plans for our acre and a half property.
